Chicago: A Whole New World of Exploration

There’s something about going to a new place; the people, the atmosphere, the wardrobe, even the food…everything is so different, even if it’s similar. I’ve been all over Texas, here and there in California, Washington D.C, Virginia, and various other places while passing through on road-trips. Each and every time I go to a new place, I’m ceased with a magical feeling of unfamiliarity, it’s like stepping into a whole new world. Seeing as I’m a girl of change and adventure, it’s easy for me to get bored, so I’m grateful for travel to keep me refreshed and amazed. Stepping outside of my comfort zone in a new place and experiencing a variety of things that I wouldn’t be able to otherwise is a must. The excitement of being able to experience such a wide variety of things is exhilarating, and it’s a little comforting to know that I still have my cozy, familiar little home to go back to in case I become overwhelmed.

Finishing school, I haven’t had much chance to go out anywhere or go visit anyone. But all of this is about to change. So first little taste? Chicago. My beloved cousin attends a college down in this bussing booming city, so I figured a good first step before the final months of school would be to come and pay her a visit for spring! We’ve had an entire agenda planned just in case we ran out of things to do or forgot the ones we planned, but boy oh boy– that just hasn’t been the case. I think I’ve been everywhere and back enough times now to navigate this city on my own as if I reside here. The food, the fashion, the method of transportation…everything is amazing and different even though there are places back at home that are similar. However, just like no two people are the same, no two places are either. Ferris wheels, long-boarding, thrifting, food over-loading, there have been countless things to do and to see here. Not to mention the musicians and dancers in the ventras; this entire city is so alive constantly, rubbing off on me as a result. Check out some of the magic:

Introducing Nicaven

For a very long time, I struggled to find a theme I liked. I started out in that middle school punk phase, loving the all black theme with the some-what depressing posts, pictures and quotes. Then I started moving out of that, posting things I found funny. After that, after a while, I moved onto fashion…something that brought me way closer to what I wanted. Anything from Chanel to white duvets to puppies and Acne tags, all the way to abstract pictures of a certain product like converse or a piece from American Apparel. I slowly started to incorporate pictures of food into the mix; foods that were so colorful they looked like art. Realizing that I was mostly reblogging smoothies and stuff at this point, I started steering in the direction of a tropical theme. Following that has landed me where I am now. My blog consists of everything from fashion to cities to beaches to mountains to models to food to surfing to animals to anything I find captures something beautifully. Bright colors, movement, sound, anything that draws my eye. My blog is my beautiful, random messy canvas…and somehow, it all fits together perfectly. Easy on the eyes. So that’s how I’d like to introduce you to my blog; welcome to my messy canvas that consists of an array of food, fashion, travel, photography and general day to day experience of life. I hope everything you see is as inspiring and lovely on your eyes as I believe them to be.

Everything you see in this blog is a little piece of me. A cornucopia of all sorts; it’s amazing to consist of so many things, and to find beauty in each and every one of them.

Enjoy, loves!
